Choose to Answer His Calling

What is it that makes us think we have all the time in the world? What makes us think that we can give in to our tendencies and bad habits today and put off change for tomorrow? Maybe we say we don’t think this, but often our actions prove we do. If our actions and behavior show no change, no desire to be better, no real transformation… then what does this mean?

Romans 12:2 states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

People often want to live and be “happy” while they are young, doing whatever their heart desires. And they think they can just change this once they get older, when they have experienced all the adventures and “treasures” the earth holds. People want to get rich, have whatever they desire at their fingertips. Live extravagantly. And never have to worry.

But in Matthew 16:26 we read, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

No one can know how long he will live, how long his life will be, how many years he has left. You cannot say you will “enjoy” life for a few years and follow God later on in your life. We do not even know if we have tomorrow. All we have is today, this moment. And God is calling us to follow him, to accept His calling, and do His work. Our connection with God is what will matter in the end, our relationship with Him. We cannot be held accountable for how others live, but we will be held accountable for how we’ve lived. And what will we gain if we lose our salvation and if we lose God? The only real happiness and fulfillment comes from Him. Choose to answer His calling!

John 15:16, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

2 Timothy 1:9, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”
