Knowing God's Will

Is it true that many times in life we get so stressed out about what we are going to do or how we should do it or constantly ask ourselves if this is God’s will for our life? How many of you can relate? Well, today I want to talk a little bit about knowing God’s will.
First of all, you can’t always just know exactly what God’s plan is, that’s why you need faith and trust. In John 9 we read about how Jesus heals a blind man. Now Jesus doesn’t come to this man and say, “Ok, so here’s how this is going to work, you are going to be MIND BLOWN! So, I’m going to spit in the dirt, take a bit of it in my hand, give you a facial, then you’re going to go wash, and BOOM, you will see! Sound good?” He didn’t do that! Jesus had an absolutely awesome plan but all He said was, “Believe in Me.” “Trust Me.” “I won’t let you down!”

1 Kings 19:11-12: “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still, small voice.”
God doesn’t come to us in earthquakes and fires, but in a still, small voice. He’s not always just going to come and flash arrows into our lives. And there isn’t always just one right road to take…
Isaiah 30:21, “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
I find these verses very encouraging because it says whether we go to the right or to the left, we will hear a voice telling us “This is the way!”

God gives us opportunities to choose from, we just have to take them, trust Him, and He will use us. Let’s realize that, yes, it’s very important to have an education and to pursue a good career, but these things are all secondary; our first plan should be to follow God. Because in the end all will perish, but what you have done for Christ will always be remembered. When you put God first, everything else will fall into place, and He will give you the strength to accomplish what He puts in front of you.

Maybe we are so stressed and worried about life and God wants to speak to us, but our mind is so full of noise that we can’t hear Him. Calm your mind. Go in His Word and search for His promises. Remember, at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what you do or don’t do, what matters is, is God with you?
