I Know It Was God

Have you ever had one of those moments after something has happened, where you just look up and think: “Thank you, God. I know that was you.” ?

We always want things to go our way; we think we know what is best for us, for our families, for our future, etc. But the truth is, we don’t. Sometimes God has to rescue us from ourselves. He has to stop us from making mistakes that will harm us. And we have to let Him work things out even when we can’t quite understand why certain things are happening.

But then… days, weeks, maybe months, or even years, later… when everything falls into place… we are in awe of how God worked in our lives, and how He accomplished such marvelous things for us and through us. And we realize that this was His plan all along, that He knew what He was doing, and He knew why everything was happening in a certain way. It was all to lead us here. To lead us where He wanted us to be… where we wanted to be… even if we did not know it.

And in that moment, we look to the skies, and an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness fills our hearts. Because we know that it was God. It’s always been God. And He’s always had a plan for our lives. We don’t need to understand everything; we don’t need to know why things happen the way they do. All we need to do is trust that God knows, and that He has a far greater plan than we ever will.

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
